Reinvigorated by their well-received Then and Now concert last September at Newport World Resorts, SIDE A has returned to the recording studio to record a brand-new song under Widescope Entertainment.
The newly-released single, “Clueless” is written by the band’s current bassist Ned Esguerra. It’s a song that talks about dealing with the difficulties of being in a broken relationship whose reason for ending remains ambiguous and unclear. With lyrics like “Just give me a reason, it doesn’t matter if it’s wrong…you can break my heart and say goodbye, just tell me why…’coz it’s cold outside and you will never know, I’ll be clueless when you go…” the piano-driven ballad attempts to express the thoughts and sentiments of anyone who finds themselves struggling to make sense as to why things suddenly took a turn for the worse.
For over 35 years, generations of fans have seen the evolution of Side A. Since its founding in 1985, the band first made waves as sought-after headliners that routinely packed Calesa Bar and Lounge, the then popular watering hole of the old Hyatt Regency Hotel in Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City.

Over the years transformed into consistent OPM hitmakers with a long string of hits that began with “Eva Marie,” “Windows of Our Souls” and “Di Pa Huli” as well as memorable covers of other OPM classics like Labuyo’s “Tuloy Pa Rin Ako,” Joey Albert’s “Tell Me” and Hotdog’s “Manila,” among many others.
Even with subsequent lineup changes, the band went on to top the pop charts with classics like “Hold On,” “So Many Questions” and the huge smash, “Forevermore” that have become karaoke favorites and continues to resonate with music fans to this day.
“Clueless” recorded by the band’s current lineup composed of Yubs Esperat on lead vocals, Leevon Cailao on guitars, Ned Esguerra on bass, Naldy Gonzalez on keyboards and vocals
and Ernie Severino on drums, promises to follow in SIDE A’s tradition of memorable hit tunes and already has the makings of an instant classic.
